Quality Award 2007

Landsvirkjun received the 2007 Icelandic Quality Award, an annual award presented by the Icelandic Quality Management Association, the Office of the Prime Minister, the University of Iceland and the Reykjavik Commercial Workers Union for exellence in systematic work practices based on quality management.

The Icelandic Quality Award is one of the most sought-after awards available to Icelandic companies and institutions. The aim of the Icelandic Quality Awards is to give recognition to companies and institutions for tangible management results, while at the same time encouraging companies to set clear objectives and regularly assess progress. Landsvirkjun is the ninth holder of the Icelandic Quality Award.

The Evaluation Committee's account of the company

The committee visited an energetic and objective knowledge-based company that is quite comparable with foreign undertakings. The initiative and dedication of the staff is admirably placed in a well-defined work environment with active, energetic and objective human resources management that provides exemplary staff support. The position of human resources management on the company's organisational chart shows the importance attached to staff issues. Human resources are applied to full effect with decision making authority as their standard.

The information system is used in an efficient and practical manner, which lends effective support to objectives and work procedures; it is a good example of information utilisation for other companies.

The directors and managers have a clear vision that is applied in a highly systematic and efficient manner, with the active participation of the staff. Company strategy is presented and implemented in every department, and clients' and community needs are paramount.

The company is concerned about its image and is positively and constructively involved in community projects.
