The Landsvirkjun Community Fund was founded in 2010.
Landsvirkjun supports many good causes every year and the company receives requests to participate in or support interesting projects.
The Landsvirkjun Community Fund provides grants for art, charities, culture, sports and the environment and for education.
The values that the Community Fund awards committee looks for in applications are as follows: Initiative, cooperation, courage and a positive attitude. The fundamental principle of the Community Fund is economic, environmental and social sustainability.
Applications are accepted all year round and awards are made by the Fund at quarterly intervals. Application deadlines are 25 February, 25 May, 25 August and 25 November each year.
The board members of the Fund are Landsvirkjun employees. The board members are from all levels of the company and care is taken to select people with varying working backgrounds and attention is paid to balancing the gender ratio.
