Energy Division
The role of the Energy Division is to generate and sell energy in the manner which best fulfils the needs of Landsvirkjun's customers. The department focuses on proactively seeking economical solutions for clients, and applies itself to developing efficiency in energy production, power plant operations and distribution.
Landsvirkjun guarantees quality, enhances efficiency and improves results through a certified quality system based on ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 – an integrated internal electricity safety management system that fulfils the requirements of the Safety of Electrical Installations Act (146/1996).
Einar Mathiesen is Director of the Energy Division (einarmat at lv.is). He holds an MSc in business administration.
The Energy Division is divided in four departments:Sales and Marketing, Power Plants, Technology and Business Services. The Business Development Manager also operates under the management of the Director of the Energy Division.
Sales and Marketing Department
The Sales and Marketing Department oversees the company's electricity sales, including direct sales to traditional industries and sales to new energy-intensive companies. A further role of this department is to be a leader in Iceland in wholesale sales of electricity to electricity retailing companies.
Electrical engineer Edvard G. Gudnason is Head of the Sales and Marketing Department and Chairman of the Industrial Contracts Board (edvard at lv.is).
Unnur María Thorvaldsdóttir, who is an electrical engineer and holds an MBA, is Head of Wholesale Sales. (unnur at lv.is)
Power Plants Department
The Power Plants Department oversees Landsvirkjun's electricity generating operations.This department is responsible for the administration, supervision and maintenance of assets associated with the company's power generating installations.The Director of the Energy Division acts as Head of this department (einarmat at lv.is).
Technology Department
The Technology Department carries out supplementary tasks in the Energy Division's power plants along with projects that are additional to the Division's day-to-day operations. Business Services
Business Services oversees daily operations involving electrical customer matters, work schedules, risk assessment in connection with electricity generating, energy transactions, risk assessment and optimisation in connection with Landsvirkjun's natural resources, and energy client evaluations.Eggert Gudjónsson, engineer, is Head of Business Services (eggert at lv.is).
Business Development
