Landsvirkjun supports Iceland's contribution to the Shanghai World Expo
Hördur Arnarson, Managing Director of Landsvirkjun, and Össur Skarphédinsson, Minister for Foreign Affairs, signed an agreement last Friday on Landsvirkjun's involvement in the 2010 World Expo.
On the same occasion, Össur Skarphédinsson and Grímur Sæmundsson, General Manager of the Blue Lagoon, signed a partnership agreement.
The 2010 World Expo will be held in Shanghai in China from 1 May to 31 October 2010 under the slogan Better City, Better Life. In January 2008, the Government of Iceland decided that Iceland would participate. Iceland's contribution will focus on the Icelandic business environment, municipalities, renewable energy sources, advanced technology, purity and creative energy. Moreover, special Iceland-days will be organised as will business and culture days with visits from ministers.
Once the agreement had been signed, guests were given the opportunity to examine the prototype of the Icelandic exhibition pavilion.
