The volcanic eruption in Eyjafjallajökull has no effect on Landsvirkjun‘s electric production
Landsvirkjun has carried out an evaluation on the impacts of the volcanic eruption in Eyjafjallajokull on hydropower plants in Southern Iceland.
The evaluation revealed that the ongoing eruption in Eyjafjallajokull does not have any effect on the electric production in Landsvirkjun‘s power plants in nearby areas. Landsvirkjun will continue to monitor any developments in the eruption area and its possible effects.
The volcanic eruption in Eyjafjallajokull in southern Iceland, started Saturday March 20, 2010. Lava is flowing from a 0,5 km long fissure at the edge of the glacier Eyjafjallajökull.
