Landsvirkjun, Chinese company CWE and Exim Bank sign Declaration of Intent

9.6.2010

A Declaration of Intent between Landsvirkjun on the one hand and China International Water & Electric Corporation (CWE) and Export-Import Bank of China (Exim Bank) on the other, was signed this morning.

The Declaration is a step toward strengthening positive relations and business dealings between Iceland and China, and we take great pleasure in having been able to establish contact with these organisations.

While the Declaration does not involve any obligations on the part of the three parties, it does affirm CWE's interest in bidding for construction work at Búdarháls Power Plant as well as Landsvirkjun's interest in receiving an offer from the company.

Furthermore, Exim Bank states its interest in funding some of the project contracts that CWE may undertake for Landsvirkjun once the project has been put out to tender.

CWE is one of the largest contractors in China, and its representatives are here in Iceland together with a large delegation from China. Export-Import Bank of China is owned by the Chinese State, and its role includes supporting Chinese companies involved in exporting.
