Landsvirkjun Community Fund
Landsvirkjun supports many good causes each year and the company receives requests to participate in and support many interesting projects.
In 2010 the Landsvirkjun Community Fund was founded to manage Landsvirkjun's donations. The Fund provides grants for art, charity, culture, sport, environment and education.
The values that guide the awards committee and that it looks for in applications are: Initiative, cooperation, courage and optimism. The main pillar of the Community Fund is economic, environmental and social sustainability.
Applications are accepted all year round and allocations made quarterly. The application deadlines are 25 March, 25 June and 25 December each year. The Fund board is comprised of Landsvirkjun staff. The board has members from the whole spectrum of employees and care is taken to choose people with differing backgrounds and to respect balance between the sexes when appointing to the board.
Landsvirkjun also works with various institutions and companies involved in innovation, art, design and environmental issues.
