Landsvirkjun Power wins UNDP´s public auction for hydropower plants in Georgia.

Landsvirkjun Power will act as advisor on the redevelopment of small hydroelectric plants as well as submit a pre-feasibility studies for four new hydropower plants.

Landsvirkjun Power signed on August 3, 2010, a contract with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Georgia for provision of consulting services for the UNDP/Global Energy Fund Project: Georgia - Promoting the Use of Renewable Energy Resources for Local Energy Supply.

The work was publicly tendered in January and Landsvirkjun Power in cooperation with the Icelandic consulting firm VERKIS and Georgian partners were the successful bidder. The contract value is a little under USD 1.0 million. The project is to be completed before end of 2011.

The work involves rehabilitation of three hydroelectric power plants in Georgia, ranging in size from 2.0-6,5 MW, and development of pre-feasibility study for four additional small hydroelectric projects.
