The call for tenders included the tender design, the preparation of tender documents, and final design for the planned construction of a geothermal power station of up to 90 MW at Bjarnarflag and of a geothermal power station of up to 90 MW at Þeistareykir, together with assistance in monitoring the installation of machinery and electrical equipment etc. Landsvirkjun and Þeistareykir are joint issuers of the call for tenders.
The tenders were opened and the names of the tenderers read out by Landsvirkjun in the presence of the representatives of the tenderers, Landsvirkjun and Þeistareykir ehf.
Two tenders were submitted by three engineering firms, i.e. a joint tender from Mannvit ehf. and Verkís ehf. and a second tender from Efla ehf.
The tenders will now be submitted to an evaluation committee which will assess whether the tenderers meet the qualification criteria stipulated in the tender documents. The assessment of the tenderers qualification may take up to three weeks from the opening of the tenders. Once the assessment has been completed, the price quotes of those tenderers meeting the qualification criteria will be opened and evaluated. The results of the call for tenders are expected to be available early September 2011.
