Landsvirkjun signs loan agreement

17. November 2004

The loan is agreed for a period of 15 years, and will be paid to Landsvirkjun in 2005. The terms of the loan are among the best Landsvirkjun can obtain in the credit market, since the EIB specialises in lending to projects that increase competitiveness and growth in European countries. The loan is provided through a special lending facility allocated by the bank to nations in the European Free Trade Association.

Reykjavík Energy and Suðurnes Regional Heating were also granted EIB loans simultaneously, with each of the loans being intended to help in generating and transmitting energy for the Nordic Aluminium expansion.
