In keeping with a decision by the Board of Landsvirkjun, grants are distributed annually to promising master's and doctoral students, with the purpose of promoting education and research in academic fields related to company operations, as well as attracting capable individuals to careers in these fields.
At the end of last year, these grants were advertised for the second time, leading to some fifty applications. Considering how well-prepared most applications were and how intriguing the projects seemed, the Allocation Committee was faced with a difficult task selecting from them. The company is certainly pleased with the amount of interest shown by university students. This time there was ISK three million to be apportioned, and the Committee decided to award seven grants of ISK 400,000-500,000 each.
These seven grants went to Edda Sif Aradóttir, Eyrún Linnet, Ólafur Oddbjörnsson, Reynir Freyr Bragason, Þórunn Pétursdóttir, Edda S. Oddsdóttir and Hálfdán Ágústsson.
