Landsvirkjun introduces a code of conduct for its suppliers

Landsvirkjun has approved a code of conduct for its suppliers and service providers and are currently in the process of implementing it. The regulations outline the criteria for nine categories, including child labour, forced labour, non-discrimination, conflict of interest, freedom of association and collective bargaining, business integrity, the environment, wages and benefits and health and safety. The Code of Conduct will subsequently be implemented in contracts, tender specifications and supplier and performance evaluations.

Landsvirkjun developed its Employee Code of Conduct in December, 2013. The Code of Conduct for Suppliers and Service Providers was subsequently developed and approved in January, 2015. The objective of the regulations is to outline clear instructions for Landsvirkjun’s suppliers and service providers and the Company’s expectations with regard to ethical working procedures and corporate governance.

Regulations in accordance with the UN Global Compact

The Code of Conduct for Suppliers and Service providers was developed in accordance with Landsvirkjun’s Employee Code of Conduct and the UN Global Compact. Landsvirkjun signed the UN Global Compact, in November, 2013 and is therefore committed to implementing the ten principles outlined by the UN in the areas of human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption.
