Electricity production

In 2010 a total of 73.8% of electricity in Iceland was produced with hydro power and 26.2% with geothermal power.

Landsvirkjun's share in electricity production is 96.2% for hydro power and 11.5% for geothermal power.

In 2010 the company‘s total installed capacity was 1,895 MW, divided into 1,797 MW at thirteen hydropower stations, 63 MW at two geothermal stations, and 35 MW at one fossil fuel-powered reserve station.

Landsvirkjun´s electricity production in 2010 amounted to 12,534 GWh. Over 96% of electricity produced by Landsvirkjun comes from hydropower, while geothermal power contributes some 4%.

Iceland´s total electricity production 2010 amounted to 17,053 GWh, of which Landsvirkjun´s share is approximately 74%.
