Végarður Visitor Center in Fljótsdalur valleyVégarður í Fljótsdal

For travellers interested in learning about Kárahnjúkar Hydropower Project or about tourist activities in the highlands north of Vatnajökull glacier, it is helpful to stop at Végarður in Fljótsdalur valley, where Landsvirkjun has a Visitor Center to satisfy the traveller's thirst for knowledge.

Here you can for instance learn about construction in the area, see how Kárahnjúkar Power Plant was built, and examine a 3D model of the region. In addition, you can obtain information on hiking, driving routes and on road conditions.

Reality Check
Végarður Visitor Center also features the exhibition Reality Check. The artist Silja Sallé shows her photograps taken on the farm Hjarðarfell. Reality Check is a cooperative project between Landsvirkjun and Reykjavik Arts Festival.
