Landsvirkjun has signed a contract with Landsnet and the Fire Protection Association of East Iceland with regard to education and prevention in fire prevention and pollution issues. Landsvirkjun and Landsnet will subsequently open up its offices in the East for a training exercise held in the spring and autumn of 2013.

The exercise will offer fire fighters the opportunity to train under challenging circumstances and will give them a chance to familiarise themselves with the surroundings. Preparation and planning is already underway for the exercise. The importance of training and immediate, correct and resolute action by all parties involved, should such circumstances arise, cannot be underestimated.

Employees of the companies will be indirectly involved in the exercise and given the opportunity to increase their knowledge and receive training, with regard to the various procedures relevant to fire prevention. The agreement also provides for other aspects of cooperation and training and aims to increase competence in the field.
