Environmental Management

We focus on understanding all aspects of our operations and their environmental impacts, reducing them, and preventing environmental incidents.

Our approach

We have a certified environmental management system in accordance with the international standard ISO 14001.

This means that we have undergone a recognised process that includes formulating environmental policies and conducting a detailed analysis of the company’s environmental impact. To minimise this impact, we take appropriate measures, define (mitigating) actions, and monitor their effectiveness.

Comprehensive research and monitoring

We place strong emphasis on minimising the disturbance caused by our operations, maintaining natural biodiversity, and restoring affected areas as much as possible. Environmental impacts are assessed early in the preparation stage of power plant projects, including extensive studies of the environment and by defining the main principles for the design and overall layout of the facilities.

We also carry out detailed monitoring and environmental research in the impact areas of our power plants. In almost all cases, the monitoring and research are conducted in collaboration with research institutions and independent experts. Various reports are published annually, presenting the results of monitoring and research on nature and wildlife in our energy production areas.

We develop a monitoring plan for each area, with a focus on gathering information on species or ecosystems that are likely to be affected by construction or operation.

How do we measure our performance?
