Landsvirkjun x WGC 2026

Generating electricity exclusively from renewable sources; hydropower, geothermal power and wind, Landvirkjun’s role is to maximize the value of the resources it has been entrusted with by the people of Iceland, in a sustainable and efficient manner.

Looking ahead, Landsvirkjun’s role is threefold: build responsibly new power plants, optimize existing assets, and lead by example through transparent climate accounting and green finance.

Iceland’s national target is carbon neutrality by 2040, and Landsvirkjun is one of the platforms that will hopefully make it possible.

We are looking forward to meeting passionate collage from around the world. We have exciting projects coming up in the North of Iceland, our hub for Geothermal Energy. We are expanding our newest Geothermal Power Plant, Þeistareykir and installing a Topping Unit to increase efficiency. We are also building infrastructure for future innovators in the area.

This WGC we are hoping to build connections with:

• Contractors for future projects in Iceland, including the development site in the North of Iceland, upcoming expansion projects and new development projects.
• Innovators looking for plots of land and geothermal resources to drive their projects into fruition, from pilot projects to full scale developments.
• Researchers looking into deep drilling, utilization of resources and other geothermal related projects
• Scientists looking for collaboration within the geothermal field
