Power curtailment to electricity buyers has now been cancelled.

Landsvirkjun’s reservoir levels have improved significantly. Therefore, Landsvirkjun has given an announcement to fishmeal plants and fish drying factories that curtailment in power supply has been cancelled.

This marks the end of one of the hardest winters for Landsvirkjun’s energy generation system, forcing the Company to implement measures as early as December to curtail electricity supply, due to poor water levels. However, enough snow is now in the highlands, after a considerable precipitation during this winter. The end of March saw warmer weather and rain and again during Easter, which has resulted in some of the snow melting into the reservoirs. This is happening unusually early in the spring season. The outlook for the reservoir levels is good, but ablation in the second half of summer will tell if they fill up in the autumn.
